OrbicTrade Redefines Pre-Deal & Trade Capture with AI

Recently, we were introduced to OrbicTrade, an AI-powered pre-deal and trade capture platform that has been built specifically to support physical and derivative commodity trading. Mr. Amir Soufizadeh kindly outlined for us how the platform worked, explained its benefits, and then provided us with a compelling demonstration. “The platform addresses one of the most persistent inefficiencies in trading operations: manual, fragmented deal capture processes within legacy CTRM environments. Rather than replacing CTRM systems, OrbicTrade augments and modernises them by digitising pre-deal workflows and automating structured trade entry,” he explained.

”The platform is built for complex, multi-commodity physical and derivative trading environments, enabling organisations to standardise pre-deal and trade capture across oil, metals and agriculture within a single front-office workflow layer,” he said.” OrbicTrade integrates with downstream CTRMs and ERPs, pushing completed deals to the appropriate system for rest of trade lifecycle. It is fully cloud-native and designed to make configuration, implementation, and integration straightforward, he told us. The platform handles deal status workflows from pre-deal negotiation through multiple stages to verified/confirmed status that triggers CTRM integration and it includes functionalities like voice recognition for mobile deal capture. Amir told us that “unlike traditional trade capture tools that begin at confirmed deal entry, OrbicTrade digitises the entire pre-deal lifecycle — capturing negotiations from email, chat and documents, structuring them in real time, and enabling traders to progress deals through controlled workflow stages before downstream system integration.”

OrbicTrade was launched less than 3 years ago and has a number of clients globally using the platform however, marketing efforts only began in earnest late last year. Amir explained  his goal of ”taking the product to the next level.” He told us that it was already getting “quite a lot of interest” with many demonstrations currently in progress.

Amir demonstrated the trader blotter to us showing how deals could be automatically drafted from multiple sources, with icons indicating whether deals came from manual entry, Outlook, WhatsApp, or iChat. AI parsing automatically – populated the deal fields when traders pasted in trade confirmations or dragged-and-dropped PDF documents into the system.

AI recognizes deal attributes regardless of order in the source document and then populates appropriate fields based on deal type (physical vs paper). The system then highlights any missing mandatory fields in red and reduces workload from upto 80+ fields requiring manual input down to approximately 4-5 fields. It can rapidly generate formatted trade recaps that traders can send back to counterparties during negotiation stages via email or WhatsApp. A complete audit trail tracks all deal versions showing what changed, by whom, and when. Traders can also export deals to Excel for bulk upload to other systems if full integration isn’t implemented in phase one.

OrbicTrade’s API architecture enables flexible integration with upstream sources and downstream CTRMs/ERPs, he told us. “Field mapping between OrbicTrade and any underlying CTRMs is easily configurable on both sides. Companies define which fields are mandatory and which deal status triggers the push to CTRM (live, confirmed, verified, etc.).” The integration layer allows routing different commodities or trade instrument types to different CTRMs. One client is implementing two-way integration to bring CTRM data back to OrbicTrade for front office dashboards, he told us. The platform also includes an admin interface showing STP integration status, successful pushes, failed transactions with error messages for troubleshooting. Integration typically takes 8 weeks for tier one clients depending on CTRM’s API library quality.

OrbicTrade licenses by user tiers similar to other CTRMs but at a fraction of the cost according to Amir. He  reports that implementation takes 4-6 weeks for standalone deployment without heavy customization and the platform can be deployed as SaaS hosted by OrbicTrade or implemented in client’s local environment.”Large organizations prefer local implementation to bypass firewall issues for integration and maintain data security,” he said

Pre-trade and deal capture seems to be almost the perfect use case for AI. The product is slick, has an elegant UI, and helps minimise any user error in entering deal details. It appears to exactly what we would imagine traders would be looking for in terms of ease of use and functionality while ensuring that deal details are accurately captured in the relevant CTRMs for onward processing and risk management. It’s coverage is broad – “Oil (paper + physical), Power, Metals, Agricultures, Equities .Designed to handle complex trade lifecycles seamlessly — from physical logistics to derivative hedges,” according to OrbicTrade’s website. Furthermore, with it already being installed at some large multi-commodity trading firms, OrbicTrade can claim some impressive metrics already – “60% faster capture times. 40% fewer validation exceptions. Zero double-entry during live migration. Seamless adoption across four global trading hubs,” is claimed on the website.

“As trading organisations seek to modernise front-office workflows without disrupting core CTRM investments, OrbicTrade is positioning itself as the digital pre-deal layer within the trading technology stack, bridging unstructured trader communication and structured enterprise systems,” he told us. “With growing global interest and live enterprise deployments, the company is aiming to establish pre-deal orchestration as a defined software category in its own right.”
