Navitasoft is (re)turning its focus towards its ETRM solution.

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with Christoph Malzer, Sales Operations Manager at Navitasoft, and learned that the company is planning to reinforce its ETRM offering originally developed years ago, by adding a VPP integration.

Over the past few years, Navitasoft’s primary attention has been on EMoT (Energy Market of Things). This solution is designed to collect flexibility from prosumer resources and aggregate it into a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), enabling efficient communication between VPPs, energy markets, and grid operators. I was particularly interested in understanding what is driving Navitasoft’s renewed focus on the highly competitive ETRM vendor market.

As Christoph explained, there are two main drivers behind this initiative. First, there is a growing demand, especially among smaller market participants in Europe, for simple, cost-effective ETRM solutions. Second, the number of independent power producers (IPPs), project developers, and flexibility aggregators operating VPPs is increasing, along with their need for more active and sophisticated market participation. Navitasoft addresses these needs by offering both VPP aggregation support and a streamlined ETRM system, providing a comprehensive solution for this customer segment.

Navitasoft’s ETRM functionality is compelling. The platform is built as a multi-commodity trading system for energy traders and portfolio managers. Based on modular microservices architecture, it delivers a unified environment covering front-, mid-, and back-office operations across the entire trade lifecycle. Supporting power, gas, CO₂, FX, and other tradable products, the system combines robust risk management with real-time position calculation, automated market data integration, and flexible workflow management.

Another clear strength of the solution lies in its integration capabilities. Navitasoft’s flagship product, Operator Suite, which is widely used by TSOs and DSOs can be leveraged to support the ETRM suite through direct TSO integration across most European markets. This is particularly valuable in Eastern Europe, where market fragmentation and diverse communication formats present significant challenges. Navitasoft’s extensive customer base in the region positions the company well to address these complexities.

By strengthening its ETRM offering combined with VPP and Operations solutions, Navitasoft is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for IPPs and aggregators seeking broader market participation and operational coverage across European energy markets.
